Router CNC aprovechando una vieja impresora 3D

Hola a todos. 

Estaba pensando en comprarme o hacerme un pequeño router CNC, aún no lo tengo claro, Si lo hago es porque tengo una impresora 3D (Anet A6) la cual creo que voy a jubilar, y quería saber si los motores que lleva Nema 17 (si no me equivoco) son válidos para desempeñar ese trabajo.
También saber si la placa que lleva Ramps 1.4 + Arduino Mega la podría aprovechar.

La idea es hacer un router con perfiles de aluminio de aproximadamente 1metro x 0.5 metro

Sólo trabajaré madera y plásticos, nada de aluminio o acero.

La idea es hacer algo parecido a ésto.

¿Perfileria de 20x40 o mejor de 40x40?
¿Eso es robusto?

¿Hacerlo todo con husillos?
¿Es factible la idea?
